So I did a 18 mile run Sunday. 7:20 pace on the trails as scheduled. No big deal. Unfortunately by mile 8 I was hurting, that is my lower back on the left side of my tail bone was giving me some pain. I had no choice but to do the entire 18 miles with the pain. Never had this kind of injury before. After 2 days the pain has subsided with heating and message and ibprofin. Still can't run with it.
In other injury news, for about a month now I have been suffering symptoms of a sports hernia. Its very very mild and I have been able to put in over 40 miles per week running with nothing much happening. But, I decided that things weren't getting better and in hopes of making my race season injury free I made an appointment with a specialist here in Va Beach to see what I might need to do. I generally stay away from Doctors as much as humanly possible. Worst case I'll have to get surgery and go through a few weeks of recovery, which will mean missing the Shamrock Marathon in March.
In the mean time I will be cycling and swimming until my back is better. Perks of being a triathlete.
Today I'm off to see Avatar again in 3D IMAX then a 1 hour swim working on technique.
