Its about time YES

Apologies for lack of updates. I usually do my blog at work as it is the only time I have time to do so. But I've been incredibly busy designing and calculating all day at work with no time to update this blog. This will mark the first time updating at home. The pic is proof Im at home.

In short... Christmas was great. New Years was good. Training has been going decently.

I've officially teamed up with PLANET X bikes for 2011. I'll be getting my new Tri bike soon. I can't wait!

My "work horse" road bike for the last 3 years has met its doom. Or at least the crank, bottom bracket, front derailur, chain, and rear brakes are done for. Its been sitting in my kitchen/bike storage room in pieces. I've gone without riding for the entire month of December. Partially due to bike issues, super cold conditions, and lack of motivation. I've gained that winter 5 lbs. No worries though. Thats what happens when you don't ride 250+ miles per week. I have to admit I am itching to start riding again. And it's only January! Still have at least 2 more months of winter booo. Starting last week I've put my race bike (my only bike right now) on the trainer and starting back cycling training. It's not all that fun, but I just try to push as hard as I can when on it. The harder you push yourself on the trainer = the least amount of time spent on the trainer. Although endurance rides in the winter are very important. So the 2-3 hour stints on the trainer are still necessary.

As far as running goes, it's been about 2 weeks since I last ran. After a 16 mile run in the mountains on ice and snow, 9 miles up 9 miles down, I injured my right knee. Not really sure what the injury is called. But I know I can't run on it. One of my problems is that I push my body too hard when I don't need to. I dont have a race until April. What was the point of pushing 5.5 min miles down the mountain. I had no reason to do that. But it felt right at the time. I'll not be running until I have zero knee pain. I need to heal 100% this time.

I've been swimming about 4 days a week. I've really just been trying to build back my endurance with my new stroke. It will be another few weeks before I start testing my speed.

Strength training and range of motion training has been fun. I never do these things during the race season so its nice to do something different. I'm really looking forward to what this fusion yoga and ROM training will do for my run bike and swim capabilities in the spring.
Heres to a spectacular year 2011 and never taking a day for granted!!
