Back To Normal

It has been 2 full months since I've gone on a casual run. And it has been 1 full month since the last time I ran. I went from running 40 miles a week and cycling around 250 miles a week to 0. Naturally, I had a very difficult time accepting this. Missing out on perfect beautiful weekends for running and biking or missing training runs or rides with my groups, I couldn't do anything. But I got used to it. I iced almost every night and heated almost every morning and did messages on the area a few times a week. I had a major fear of losing speed and endurance that I earned all year training during this process. Thankfully I could still swim and train on the elliptical during this time. I think I know everyone who works at the rec center now on a first name basis.

Today I can say I'm officially healed up. WOOHOO. I went on a 9 mile run and a 40 mile bike ride with no problems. I had done a couple treadmill runs during the week and had been cycling for over a week now with no issues, but I really put the ankle to the test today. I will slowly build milage back up. Injuries occur often when coming back into running after time off.

I will spend the next couple weeks gearing up for a local duathlon.

Oh, also I've gone to 2 masters swim programs and the coach has been all over me trying to get me to improve my technique. Just what I needed! I really needed someone to push me in the pool. Since I never was invlolved with a swim program before or ever even swam with a group I had a lot to learn quick. Right now the major thing for me is to be more efficient by lengthening my stroke. It's exciting.
