Adventures in Oregon - Crater Lake & Coastal Camping

After spending the day in Portland we got to the coast around midnight and searched along the coast for a campground in the complete dark. Haha. Really lucked out and found a spot to pop up the tent at Nahalem Bay State Park right on the beach. Gorgeous campground with horses and wildlife! But not very private as I woke to the sound of screaming kids playing at 6am.  After a short run on the beach it was time to hike..

View from the top of Cascade Head Trail!! One of the most breathtaking views I've ever seen!

After hiking through jungles on the wrong trail we finally found the right one and were happy we made it to the top!

Lucked out again and found an amazing private campground at Seal Rock, with a perfect beach view. Made it just in time to sit, eat dinner and enjoy the sunset.

Next morning we went back to the same beach to look around and this is what we found. STARFISH and Sea Anemoneis everywhere, it was unbelievable.  The tide pool created perfect conditions for corals, plants, and other animals.

The views were like scuba diving but without the scuba or diving.

Sea lions where everywhere too, and it was fun watching them play king of the hill on the rock.

I liked the bright orange ones best!

This is basically the view from our camping spot. Not bad!

What trip to the beach is complete without salt water taffy. This was the final stop in old town Florence.

The weekend before the coastal camping trip we went to camp at Crater Lake for the summer solstice to and hike around. It was fun going while there was still snow on the mountains.  This is still the most beautiful place I've ever been to.  The pictures pretty much speak for themselves..
