Training update 3_3_10

I re_aggravated my achilles tendon a week ago after pushing it cycling. I've come to a conclusion that what has happened is that when I installed new shoes on my bike it completely threw off my bike fit. It has been over stressing my hips, calves, and ankles.
So I've made adjustements including lowering my seat a few millimeters and sliding my shoes up on the pedals. All to take the stress off my calves and achilles. I am hoping this doesn't result in me going slower, but only time will tell. There is no question I would rather stay injury free if it means going a little bit slower.. I'm talking seconds slower over a 40K TT.

I finally went to the physical therapist this week! We went through a pretty thorough running analysis. Things we found going wrong with me are tight calves, hip flexors, and shoulders. Nothing mechanical. So what I need to do is stretch stretch stretch. I stretch a good amount already, but I haven't been doing it correctly. I'll need to start holding stretches for 30 seconds. We found that my left leg, which is having the problems, is tighter than my right leg, which is injury free.
So stretching is my key word. It's especially important for me because I have big muscles (naturally) for someone who competes in triathlon and marathons and they get tight easily.

Overall my off season training has been extremely frustrating. I am not where I wanted to be at this time. I did however go for a 15 mile run this past weekend at about a 7 min/mi pace and felt good as far as my injuries were concerned. My hip injury gets a little aggravated afterwards. My PT said everything will get better with correct stretching. Also, I can continue to train as long as injuries don't get worse. I'll be going to PT twice a week for this month.

I have continued to swim about 5 times a week. My 100 meter repeats are down to 1:30 now. After about 10 repeats I slow to around a 1:35 minute time. My lofty goal is to be holding a 1:30/100 meter pace for 1.2 miles/1900 meters.

I would like to give a shout out to my newer 2010 sponsors:
ZYM, FLUID, H2O AUDIO, and SYNERGY GRAY.

Getting together my nutritional needs for during and after training sessions...
